Windows 7 ssd ahci after install
This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. When I enabled it, it seemed to enable it for all hard drives. I have three other regular rpm HDDs in the system. Last edited by Ice; at AM. Not sure if this will help, but a good read Last edited by dctokyo; at AM. Its only supported in Vista and Windows 7, XP doesnt support it at all. Did you have any removable usb drives plugged in when you tried to install in AHCI mode? If so remove all other drives and try again as Win 7 seems to get confused when removable drives are connected during an install.
The other option is to modify the registry on your existing installation to enable AHCI. Sorry I should have clarified external usb hard drive. I am using a USB thumb drive to install Windows 7. There is 6 green ports and 2 yellow, so I have the SSD plugged into one of the green ones.
Any chance of some before and after benches Kylzer, before you do this? Passion Fruit , Jan 19, For me it was the other way around kylzer when I install win7 in achi from IDE on my Gb seagate barracuda. I notice the different. GenClaymore , Jan 19, I've never had it hurt any. But i don't usually see WD drives. Knox , Jan 19, I notice a speed increase with AHCI on all my drives. On real world transfer speeds instead of benchmark tests.
Plus, having NCQ makes it even better. Ice , May 8, Joined: Aug 1, Messages: 3, Location: Outside your window. Have you tried enabling AHCI post windows install ie. If you run a google search it should give you a quick guide on how to do this, as well as anything else relevant.
This is really pissing me off. Anyone ever had this issue? I also tried installing Windows as you could still click next and it completed the first part of the installation, but after it reboots for the first time it doesn't detect the SSD to continue the installation.
Windows installs with out any problem in IDE mode though. It won't take a lot from you, but it will help us grow. Thanks for your support! Please note that AHCI device driver has to be already installed before applying fix otherwise this will not work. How is that possible?
After two days of internet digging and countless failed experiments of all suggested methods, found a simple solutions by myself. Make sure you know how to enter Bios Setup before entering windows ie: by disabling secure boot, etc.
